Radio World 'Cool Stuff' Award winners BW Broadcast amongst the large number of NAB exhibitors stranded in Las Vegas
One launch that won't be halted by the ash cloud is that of the award winning RX1 and RBRX1 FM DSP receivers from BW Broadcast. Despite those who attended NAB in Las Vegas still being 'stuck' in sin city, the Radio World 'Cool Stuff' award winning products are set to find their way into stations across the world starting this week.
Subject to huge interest on the NAB floor, the RX1 receiver and RBRX1 re-broadcast receiver were unveiled to the public on the BW Broadcast stand. Using their RF and audio DSP technology know how developed from the BW audio processor range, these new boxes allow the user to do a multitude of processes that would have previously required numerous units and rack space to achieve.
Both models will allow the user to monitor radio stations using the innovative capacitive touch front panel, easily accessing information on signal strength, IF bandwidth, modulation, stereo blend and ultrasonic noise to name but a few parameters. With over fifty parameters to adjust on the RX1 and RBRX1, combined with the OLED front panel which also displays the RDS information received, station ID and frequency, monitoring and adjusting processing has never been so easy.
On the RBRX1, the re-broadcasting capabilities combined with the built in RDS encoder allow the user to monitor the audio quality whilst either re-transmitting the received RDS information or changing it for more relevant information. The DSP enhanced MPX output reconstructs a clean-peak level and bandwidth limited waveform, eliminating worries about studio-transmitter link overshoots. Furthermore, the ability to adjust the IF bandwidth and an automatic adjust setting allow for protection from unwanted interference. The RDS PI code can also be employed so that if the code of the audio received does not match that set, either the AES/EBU digital and analogue inputs, or built in flash memory can be used to prevent any unwanted re-broadcasts.
This switching can also be used automatically on the back of Plan B silence technology which will change to the inputs/flash memory in the event of loss of signal.
With the software customisable to meet specific criteria or demand, the Radio World 'Cool stuff' award winning RX1 and RBRX1 are set to revolutionise station monitoring, re-broadcasting and re-encoding.
